Do you fall asleep or can’t concentrate in meditation? We have all been there; those moments that you finally find time for yourself, you get in a comfortable position and 5 – 10 minutes in the meditation, you fall asleep. At other times you relax only to become annoyed by the most unusual thoughts.
You’re not alone, and frankly there is a great reason to it and it’s not what you might think.
What happens if you fall asleep in meditation? I’ve got news for you: It is all good!
The mind is relaxed enough, it has achieved the required stillness to go in a higher vibrational frequency. Usually sleep occurs once the mind was preoccupied with thought before this meditation, and now suddenly the change causes the mind to try and “catch up” with a higher vibrational frequency, as this occurs it puts you in a place of sleep to be able to process the shift.
If you were following a guided meditation and you were falling asleep, then the meditation was indeed successful but in an unconscious level, the mind was still working and following through the meditation, even if you were not aware of it. The sleep you achieve while following a meditation is very relaxing and usually you wake up refreshed. Have this be a clear sign of a meditation well done!
Additionally, when your mind achieves a state of calmness, your vibrational frequency rises, it becomes a match to higher energy and it is able to process divine information that was not possible with a busy mind. Allowing yourself to drift off to sleep is simply a result of the download of energy that needs more energy to process, thereby allowing you to peacefully sleep while the transfer of energy completes. The subconscious mind is always aware of what is going on, and at this time it might receive information or guidance given to you by lighted beings. This information might then come to you as a knowing, inspiration, idea, or even through your dreams. Many lighted beings choose to transfer assistance in that way you see, because it is easier to be acquired without the resistance of the ego conscious mind. At many cases those loving lighted beings chose to reply to the intention you set before meditation, but to help you receive it, they directed you in a peaceful relaxing sleep so that they can give you this information in an unconscious level. Remember, many of our prayers are responded to almost immediately, even if we are not aware of it.
If you wish to experience deep meditation without falling asleep set the intention before you begin. Try a simple intention such as “I want to experience a deep meditative state, receive divine blessings that I need at this time, and stay completely aware in a state of calmness.”
But what if i can’t concentrate in meditation?
There is deep clearing energy that takes place once one allows themselves to silence the mind. All information that needs to be processed and become revealed finds a bridge when the mind is silenced enough to come forward. The reason why many might find it challenging to silence the mind from thought, it’s because a lot of chatter is evident in the conscious mind that does not allow the mind to relax, even once it wants to. Old thoughts and patterns appear to the surface to be released, and once one allows themselves to follow that thought, then the mind cannot relax. It is true that one thought pattern follows another, old memories rise up, something someone said that was not yet processed finds its way now when the mind becomes cleared so that it gathers a response. The subconscious mind reveals to you information from up to many weeks before to help you choose which one is beneficial for you and what not. Once a thought comes and brings you a reminder, it reminds you of a memory, of words been spoken of conversations left uninterrupted. The less frequently you allow yourself to quiet your mind, the more information the subconscious would want to “run by you” once you are more relaxed. Think of it like child wanting to get your attention. It comes to you, but you are busy, you respond “later”, then once again it might come and you once again are too busy to listen. So the child patiently waits for a moment, and when he/she sees you to finally sit down and relax shows up once again wanting to be heard, wanting attention or guidance. Similarly those thoughts come up because the subconscious mind doesn’t know what to do with them, they are “unprocessed” thoughts. More often than not, however, you might get glimpses of thoughts that hold more intense emotion attached to them. Those come up wanting to be cleared. A way to do that is to simply become aware of what comes up, and breathe it all out with each exhale.
Similarly, to become more relaxed and achieve a still mind, you have to allow those thoughts to form, but only observe, do not respond, let them fly away from your mind and keep returning to stillness. The more you meditate, the easier it will be for the mind to clear whatever not necessary and the more stillness you achieve. So the trick is to keep trying and don’t give up; after all,Rome wasn’t build in a day.
